The Babcock Protector 70 was made as one of a set of four for Babcock, displaying their platform range at DSEI 2017. Like its sisters, the model was build around a CNC machined solid hull, hand-finished, and dressed with etched brass deck plates and fine handmade details.
Marine models share some processes with architectural modelmaking, particularly in the methods used to construct the superstructure. The fine details are usually hand-fabricated using whichever processes prove the most efficient; where many multiples of a feature are needed, such as radar domes or scaled cleats, vacuum casting a single unit many times allows for quick and consistent reproduction.
The breadth of expertise of our team, spanning complex CAD work, specialist spray finishes and traditional hand-making, affords us the capacity to take on these large, detailed projects.
