This anatomical model for the Glasgow Science Centre includes silicon lungs which flex organically as the mechanical heart pumps. Rows of LEDs cast inside silicone arteries show the movements of oxygenated and de-oxygenated blood through the body.
In addition to this full-sized chest model with realistically art-worked organs, we also made an intricate cross-section heart model to display different types of medical heart valve, and a demonstration model of a vascular stent used to support internal air passages. Our skilled prop-making team was able to accurately replicate the fleshy organic sheens and tones of the organs to a striking level of realism. The artificial heart model and heart valve display are now on display at the Glasgow Science Centre as part of the ‘Bodyworks‘ exhibition.
