The basic form of the 1:1000 Cheddar Gorge model was CNC’d from a hard foam; this basic shape was then heavily re-worked to simulate the crumbling limestone cliffs of the landscape.
This model’s quite different to any of the others we’ve done. Making the Gorge wasn’t just a case of ‘making it look like rock’. All those outcrops along that area are recognised local features with their own names and folklore, so we had to stay faithful to the geology of the area and give real attention to the details.
