Seagen Tidal Turbine

Seagen-Turbine-Model

Client: Marine Current Turbines The Seagen Tidal Turbine model, at 1 metre high when assembled, was built to be transported around the country for public demonstrations, and was designed to be dis-assembled and stowed safely away for transport. The gently spinning blades are held onto the motormounts by magnets. This mechanism ensures that should a curious finger try and stop the blades turning, neither are damaged. The model was coated with durable lacquers to prevent damage in transit or in assembly. The operational Seagen Turbine in Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland, has generated power equivalent to 1,500 British households' energy consumption since its construction in 2008.
