Watch Wall Mount

Client: Charterhouse Ltd Amalgam Display were asked by Charterhouse to create some giant replica watches, 1 meter long with working mechanisms. These were displayed in a UK wide promotion in 400 Orange mobile phone shops throughout the UK, in time for their Christmas 2010 promotion for LTD watches. The intention was for the watches to be  given away  to make novel wall clocks after the promotion, this would also ensure that waste would be kept to a minimum.

Eon Demonstration Plinth

Client: The Dobson White Partnership This 1.2 metre diameter model for Eon demonstrates various green energy technologies. The Offshore Wind Turbine model incorporates chasing LEDs mounted behind yellow tinted acrylic tubing, simulating the movement of electricity from the turbines to the mainland.

Beefeater Gin Point-of-Sale

Client - Pernod Ricard This iconic London Bus tasting trolley was built as a travel retail display for Beefeater Gin, produced by Pernod Ricard for airport duty free shops. The top of the 'bus' is the product area, recessed to hold stock, and the trolley has small tractor wheels making it  fully mobile. An effective imitation bell chimes on a timer, and the eye-catching display is completed with a 'bus stop' table and printed 'bus lane' carpet.

Sundial Demonstration

This bespoke stone carved sundial interactive was made for Bristol City Museum. The light source pivots over the front face, demonstrating how the sun's position can be used to take a reading of the time of day.

Womanity Fragrance Point-of-Sale

Client: Clarins Amalgam created a series of sculpted metallic heads mounted on glowing columns for Thierry Mugler's 2010 fragrance range 'Womanity.' These were initially created for the fragrance launch at Tate Modern, but subsequently more were commissioned for display at Selfridges stores around the UK. They then travelled the country to be shown at other major shopping malls and retail outlets. Amalgam were nominated for creating these displays at the 2010 Visual Merchandising Awards.

Taunton Cattlemarket

Client: BDP Architects This 1/750 timber model of the Taunton Cattlemarket was built as part of a redevelopment scheme by BDP Architects. Water is represented a number of ways on subtle small-scale models such as this; here, a sheet of thin acrylic has been backsprayed with tinted lacquer and laid over veneer. The combination of the pure gloss of the acrylic, the green tint and the fine wood grain still visible through it, is subtle and effective.

Architectural competition model, Foster + Partners – Yongsan Development, South Korea

An architectural competition model for Yongsan Development, South Korea. This striking 1/500 architectural competition model for Foster + Partners represents their scheme for Yongsan in Korea. The model draws inspiration from the neon of a city at night and the fine lines of an architect's blueprints. The central scheme incorporates three huge 3D printed central structures, which have been chrome plated to mirror the surrounding light. The opportunity to work on an architectural competition model is always a treat for us at Amalgam; the more original the better. Working with unconventional materials and forms to achieve striking outcomes is always rewarding, for us and the client, and the we relish the challenge of unusual briefs. This 1/1250 small scale massing model illustrates how BDP's proposed scheme works within the city. It was the winning entry, securing the 1bn project.

Client: Weston Williamson Architects This 1:500 model of shows how different types of veneer can be used within a model to create surface textures, and add subtle detail without breaking the simplicity. In this case, the exterior elevations are broken up into strips of differing shades to represent the vertical forms of the design.

Client: Foster + Partners This 1:500 model for Foster and Partners shows the level of detail that can be achieved with veneers and bare wood finishes. The model is internally lit and makes use of brass and other metals to create the lush golden interior of the museum.
